Pre-season has officially started for Sutton Basketball Club with training times opening up to new and interested players.
Finally through the off-season, and with only 3 players getting injured, both Rockets and Storm teams have opened their sessions on a Sunday at Westcroft Leisure Centre in Carshalton, Surrey, to new and prospective players. With the men training from 4-6pm and the women afterwards from 6-7.30pm, both sessions started off hard with drills and skills. The men saw 3-4 new faces turn up whilst the women just got back into the mix.
Men’s coach Paddy Latham said to SBC online, “off season isn’t an easy time. Players get used to not running hard, not sweating. We aren’t paid to do this, so it’s only peoples love of the game that keeps them playing. Starting back, preventing injuries and preparing for the season ahead is bar far the hardest part… before winning of course!”
Training sessions are open to all those interested in joining the club through August:
Senior Men (16+) – Sundays 4-6pm Westcroft
Senior Ladies (16+) – Sundays 6-7.30pm Westcroft
All sessions are run by qualified coaches and cost £5 to non-members.
